Laguna Board of REALTORS® Annual Senior Day of Love October 27, 2017
On Friday October 27, the Laguna Board of REALTORS® and Affiliates spread their love of community around the property of a resident of Laguna Canyon. The group trimmed trees and bushes, hauled unneeded items to the Waste Management dumpster and left the property clean and organized. It was a joyous day of giving back and team spirit!
This project was especially significant since the property has been in the owner’s family since the 1950’s.
The current owner’s father and family lived in the front parcel along Laguna Canyon Road for many years. It was the site of a horse ranch, Rancho Sol Vado. Being an avid equestrian, our senior resident cared for the horses and welcomed the public to enjoy the stables.
In the early 1970’s the family sold the front parcel and moved to the back in a house that was the former sales office of Crown Point Development. The developer built homes on the coast adjacent to what is now the Smith Cliffs area of Laguna Beach.
Below is a picture of our Laguna Beach senior citizen in her 20’s with her horse Sis at Rancho Sol Vado. Now in her 80’s, she is enjoying her family living on the property and the “newly manicured” trees and shrubs. As you walk up the long stone driveway past the chicken coop and ferret cage, to the house, you get a feeling of what life was like in 1950’s Laguna Beach.

The Laguna Board of REALTORS® thanks the Susi Q Senior Center for introducing us to this Laguna Beach family and their historical property. It was a perfect venue for the “Senior Day of Love”. Thank you to Waste Management who donated the large dumpster. We filled it to the brim!
Founded in 1975, Laguna Beach Seniors was one of the first senior service nonprofits in Orange County. Since 2009, their home has been the Susi Q, a warm and welcoming center where our fastest-growing demographic is “living it up” and finding the help they need. The Susi Q also is the heart of an ambitious vision called Lifelong Laguna: A community and a nonprofit working together to make the town we love a better place for the rest of our lives.
The Laguna Board of REALTORS® and Affiliates is an organization run by hundreds of volunteers for the benefit of their members and the public. The LBOR Charitable Assistance Fund continues to raise thousands of dollars each year for the benefit of local non-profit organizations including the Laguna Beach Seniors, Inc.
