ACCESSORY DWELLING UNIT
In December 2021, the City adopted Ordinance No. 1666, which establishes updated regulations consistent with state law. General regulations (e.g. setbacks, height, parking, etc.) are outlined in the City's ADU handout.
New State laws went into effect that makes it easier to build Accessory Dwelling Units. Refer to the Accessory Dwelling Unit Handbook issued by the California Department of Housing and Community Development for more information.
For example, ADU conversions that comply with the City’s ordinance may be approved over the counter by the Planning Division for immediate Building Plan Check submittal.
