3 Year COE and Fair Housing Requirement

What is the Code of Ethics and Fair Housing?

NAR's Code of Ethics, adopted in 1913, was one of the first codifications of ethical duties adopted by any business group. The Code ensures that consumers are served by requiring REALTORS® to cooperate with each other in furthering clients' best interests.

NAR's Fair Housing became a new policy during the 2023 REALTORS® Legislative Meeting. The Fair Housing training helps members identify, prevent and address discriminatory practices in real estate.

What is the New Code of Ethics and Fair Housing Requirement?

REALTORS® are required to complete NAR Code of Ethics and Fair Housing training every three (3) years.  The current Cycle 8 deadline is December 31, 2027. The next 3-year cycle ends 2030.

Who needs to take it?

All active REALTORS® need to complete their Code of Ethics and Fair Housing requirement every three (3) years with the exception of NAR Emeritus Members.
